TPM KAUPAPA
Te Pae Māhuri is the Dunedin Māori Youth Council. This is a council of rangatahi Māori who strategise and plan for events that promote and uplift te reo Māori and rangatahi Māori in the Dunedin takiwā.
The revitalisation of our native language, te reo Māori and being proud of our identity is at the heart of everything we do. We are proud and humbled to have the support of Mana Whenua - Kāi Tahu, Kāti Mamoe, Waitaha descendants from both Ōtākou and Puketeraki. It is important to us that we acknowledge the special rights and responsibilities that our Mana Whenua carry within our region, and we do our utmost to support where and when we can.
The following are kaupapa that Te Pae Māhuri are planning to organise:

Seasonal Wānanga
Seasonal wānanga that is centered around the Te Reo Māori revitilisation and critical awareness of the state of the language from a rangatahi perspective

Taunahanaha
Whenua

Manu Comp 2025
Produce a series of short videos that focus on Dunedin place names, the correct name, the correct pronunciation and the correct history of the name
Organise a Manu Competition to engage rangatahi in Ōtepoti, Dunedin. An opportunity to have fun and use te reo Māori in a natural way
Te Pae Māhuri
When a tree falls in the forest it acts as a nurse log for new seedlings to grow from. Te Pae Māhuri uses that imagery to talk about their generation being the saplings drawing their strength and nutrients from the nurse log. In time those saplings will grow to become trees. When those trees die, they will fall and become nurse logs and the cycle continues. Ka wana anō te tī, ka rito anō te tī.
